Laser cladding of copper alloy

Copper alloy has been widely used in electric power equipment, machinery manufacturing, aerospace and other industries. In recent years, copper alloy parts cost has been increased due to copper prices rose substantially.
With the rapidly development of science and technology, the urgency is to improve the performance of the copper alloy material in order  to guarantee high thermal conductivity or high conductivity conditions and increase the hardness, resistance  etc. Therefore, surface modification is an effective way to prolong the service life and reduce the cost of copper alloy parts.
There are still some problems in the laser cladding copper alloy:
Copper alloy with good heat capacity but poor soaked  performance , hard oxide film on surface, the large spot reflectivity which makes the laser heat generated on the surface is not easy to stay so it is difficult to achieve direct cladding coating function;
The properties of the copper alloy substrate and the coating material system are very different, so the interface failure in the process of application should be paid more attention.
There are many kinds of surface strengthening methods to copper alloy with different advantages and disadvantages.
